The new Heritage auction is up and running and check out these interesting estimates on some Cobb cards:

The ugliest Max Stein Cobb I've ever seen. Maybe the ugliest Cobb PC I've ever seen. The worst. Yet for some odd reason it has an "estimate" of 8K. I don't think any Max Stein card in any grade of any player has gone for even close to 8K as it's not exactly a very hot set. (I own a Max Stein Cobb in SGC 60 for which I paid 3K for a few years ago) Yet this incredibly ugly, graded A Cobb is estimated at 8K? A way nicer Cobb SGC 3.5 (with a rare back unlike the slop above) went for 6K not that long ago but this monstrosity is estimated at 8K? It last went for a bit over $3K in a PWCC auction (LOL) just a few months ago. Suddenly though it's worth 8K. This is surprising because Heritage does not exactly make irresponsible estimates in my experience and estimating 8K for a card that might be worth 2K with a legit bid on a good day is a bit extreme.
Case in point: A beautiful Cobb PC 796 in SGC 60 is estimated to only go up to 6K. It's only 100x better looking than the Cobb Max Stein and a way more desired card. But it has a 25% lower estimate and it will blow past it.

And here's a PC 796 Cobb/Wagner in SGC 40, also a way more desired card than the Max Stein Cobb and receiving a high grade for the issue. Yet it has an estimate of only 4K, or HALF of what the beater Max Stein Cobb has (and will also blow past it).

Finally, an M110 Cobb in PSA 2.5 in Heritage is estimated at 20K! Nice front but a really distracting, ugly back:

Of course, a way nicer PSA 2 in LOTG is sitting at $8500 with two days left. But this inferior 2.5 is estimated at 20K? Not in a million years.
I don't know what's gotten into Heritage but something is up, someone is trying to make it appear that certain cards are worth multiples of what they actually are.
