He paid nearly as much as the loss the $72k buyer took when he tried to re-sell it in the 2018 REA, and it sold for only $42k. $30,000 loss. Ouch.

Then the buyer at $42,000 took a $3,600 loss when it sold for $38,400 at HA.

On the bright side, I guess they could take advantage of some capital loss carryforwards?
