A moderator over at Blowout replied to my thread.

This is what he said which makes sense. He does not believe it is sunlight. It is possible being encased causes some sort of reaction.

Apparently keeping them in the box somehow prevents the discoloration. Someone is selling a 1985 Tiffany Traded set that has remained in the box for the most part. They are lily-white.
