Love the Billy Martin letter ! I got to watch him manage the Yanks day in and day out and have to say he was the BEST manager I ever saw. Just raw genius and he got it from Stengel.
Funny story ..but true , Back when Billy was managing the Yanks and had just gotten canned
I was living in Ocala Florida (where George Steinbrenner owned a hotel and had a house). Well a car pulled in and there were two young girls driving and their tag said "YANKS 2" and I asked them if they were Yankees fans and they said "Oh yes our whole family are Yankees fans"
So I said "The Yanks would be alot better off if that idiot Steinbrenner would just let Billy manage instead of firing him all of the time !!!"
They both looked at me, one of them said something unpleasent ...
, they got in their car and drove off. A friend of mine said "There you go pissing people off again"....lol, and he asked what I said and I told him and he told me that was George Steinbrenner's DAUGHTER !!!!!
