Default Opportunity of a LIFETIME? T206 Cobb CAROLINA BRIGHTS

Posted By: Jim/jverri01

Recently, I found a T206 Cobb with a Carolina Brights back, for sale on the web. Asking price: $4,295.00. At first, I thought - wow, great opportunity. But, as I think more of it, it almost seems like robbery. Check the card out by following the below link. Card is graded by the "ever-reputable" ASA of Canada (and please tell me it isn't true that PSA bought the grading rights to this company. Why...?). They grade it a 5 EX, I call it Fair/Good, assess it as comparable to a PSA 2, at best. I know how rare the player/back combo is - but, $4,300.?? What is this card really worth? We all know SMR values, and we all know "ranges" for multipliers on rare backs. But, REALLY - what is it worth? Thoughts. Yes - the card did sell. Sale price was $4,100. Is that kind of money well spent on this item? I'm split minded about it. Part of me says, "add it to your collection at any cost". The other part says "Hmm. $4,300 is one month payment on a Lexus (lol)". What do YOU think. C'mon, talk it up.
