Because they also don't go wild, and there's little sense to it. At the same auction I got a 40's braves warmup jacket for 100 from, a 91 Topps factory set went for $30. And a few others went for way more than retail.

I had friends consign some stuff to a local dealer who did auctions, and for generic baseball books he was getting around $5 a book in small lots. The general antiques dealer who ran the above auction got $10 for a table full, maybe 50 books at a time.
