Isaac, please let me explain something, If you throw the ball deep enough times, the receiver can adjust to a ball thrown somewhere in their general direction. He cannot throw a 7 yard slant pass because there is not enough time to adjust to the 6 yards he missed by.

Think of it in baseball terms, an outfielder can run 150 feet to track down a fly ball, but a third baseman is fortunate to move 5 feet to his right to snag a liner.
