So I bought a nice 1887 Buchner Gold Coin type card today, of Jimmy Ryan, and looking him up in the baseball database (
http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...ryanji01.shtml) I am really surprised he is not a Hall of Famer. For a pre-war (and pre-1900) player, his statistics are very solid, especially compared to a ton of borderline HOF players:

2513 Hits
1643 Runs
118 Home Runs
419 Stolen Bases
I might also add that judging by the picture attached, he was also an amazing air guitar player.
Those of you (like Rich Klein!) with SABR knowledge, can you tell me if he ever got any momentum for going in the hall, or was he never in consideration?
