Sort of.
Progressive proofs are done to check that the color is right, and lines up with the other color. With CMYK, you sometimes get all the possible combinations, sometimes only certain ones. These are just Magenta and black
It also allows them to check for problems with each design. Like on the Perry, his name sort of gets buried in how dark his collar is. It's not too bad on the full color version so probably not something they'd fix. But this is the stage to find that stuff and fix it if it doesn't work.
