Default Today's Baseball and the Playoffs- O/T

Thanks for answering my "?" regarding Pettitte.......I understood that. However, there
had to be some larger, underlying reasons for him to leave besides wanting to be back
in his home state and his family. I can only speculate that there were some behind the
scenes differences with Cashman or Steinbrenner.

History has told us from Herb Pennock to Lefty Gomez to Joe Page to Whitey Ford to
Ron Guidry and David Wells and Andy Pettitte......the NY Yankees only win when they
have a dominant SOUTHPAW in their pitching staff. That doesn't take away from the
great Righthanders over the years.....Jack Chesbro, Red Ruffing, Spud Chandler, Allie
Reynolds, Vic Raschi, Mel Stottlemyre, etc., etc. But, it's been proven that a solid
Lefty has to be in the mix.

And, don't tell me an ailing, aging Randy Johnson fits into this category anymore.
