The white back cards were printed in the 1970's during the last days of the Exhibit company. It is suspected the company moved to a lower quality paper to save on printing costs. The previous standard cream/grey-back cards were a thin photo-stock applied to cardboard backing, while the white-back cards were just a single sheet - therefore much easier and cheaper to produce.
