Herein lies the problem with buying raw cards. You could come up a big winner, but you could also lose. It's the risk you take.

If the seller "knew" the card was trimmed (i.e. received it back from a grading co. him/herself), it would be nice if they disclosed this, but I don't think there is any duty imposed upon them to do so.

Caveat emptor.
