Default I thought this was impossible, but apparently not

Trey Mancini of the Orioles currently has a BA of .500 and an OBP of .471. I thought this was an error in the stats, and even impossible, but apparently it is not. He has 16 at bats and 8 hits, but has only reached base 7 times. In a game against the Yankees, with two outs and a runner on first, Mancini hit a ground ball that hit the baserunner, who was called out - the third out. It seems Mancini was credited with a single, as the ball was clearly headed for the outfield, but did not reach base safely because there were three outs. And, since he has not reached base in any other way yet this season, such as a walk or HBP, his current OBP is lower than his batting average. Very unusual, and obviously, something he will not be able to maintain.
