barrysloateMcCain is a decent man and a true American hero. What he endured for five years in Vietnam I can't even imagine.
But he ran a ghastly campaign, always looked edgy and ill at ease, and had the bad luck of being in the same party as George Bush.
But most significantly his choice of a running mate was an abomination. I feel bad for Sarah Palin, as she took a lot of abuse the past few months. But McCain showed terrible judgment by choosing her, and he sunk quickly after that.
Obama's presidency will be far from perfect, and not everyone will like his policies. But I suggest for the next twenty-four hours to please recognize that last night we reached a landmark moment in American history. Then tomorrow we can all go back to partisan fighting.
