Default Looking back -Five most important acquisitions - 2008

Posted By: boxingcardman

Top 5:
--4 on 1 Universal Toy & Novelty Co. card from the Universal Surprise Box. I have been lusting after this card for years for my Benny Leonard collection; got it during the National on Ebay. W-Unc., very tough...The fighters are Jack Britton, Pal Moran, Luis Angel Firpo and Benny Leonard.
--E78 Jim Jeffries upgrade
--(4) 1923 Wesley Andrews, Inc. Jack Dempsey cards: Sold at his training camp in Montana in boxed sets of 12 cards. Very tough to find.
--Sean Connery autographed PC. Genuine Connery autographs are almost impossible (nearly all available are secretarial); apparently he is a bit of a bastard and doesn't sign much.
--Leader Novelties Lefty O'Doul

A few favorites:
--1948 Leaf Ted Williams and Honus Wagner: always wanted these, picked them up in lower grade on the cheap for fun.
--1944 Academy Awards ticket. The oldest Oscars ticket I've ever seen.
--1925 Exhibit Champions Babe Ruth: down to 7 cards for the set.
--1921 Exhibit Earl Caddock: next to the last card I need for the boxing/wrestling set. Jesse Westergaard anyone?
