jay behrensYou can't compare Wettland to Sutter on numbers alone. They played into totally different eras, as far as relievers are concerned. When Sutter was around, the only poeple getting 30 save in a season were him, Quiz and Goosage because starting pitchers were still finishing their games. In Wettland's era, 30 saves in a season doesn't even get you noticed. It's expected and if you don't come up with 30 plus saves, you job is on the line.
I never understood how Sutter got all this support and Qiz didn't. They are essentially the same pitcher, playing at the same time. I saw both of the pitch and given the choice, I'd rather have Quiz on the mound than Sutter, and Goosage before either of them.
