The numbers may prove it to be more cost effective to forego insurance on less expensive items. It has worked out that way for me.

But I also do not see whining about shipping costs. That element should be factored into your bid. Heck, many auctions charge 15% or greater vig. Certainly that value is factored into one's bid. Where is the beef?
