my first serious collecing was the '75 Topps set. i kept them in my official circa 1969 baseball card locker (remember those?). my friend an i would walk to the U-Totem store every week. i just about had three complete sets with all the extra cards but couldn't ever seem to get about a dozen cards to complete a set. late in the year my friend came across a list from a card dealer. i had never heard of a card dealer. seems i could save a lot of trouble and just buy the cards i was missing from him (which i did). funny thing, those cards i bought seemed tainted somehow. the set never truely felt complete after i "cheated" to fill it out. i've still got that dealer's list somewhere. it's pretty fun to pull it out now and then and see the 1975 prices for the early vintage cards.
