Neat post!

I really like seeing stuff in progress with explanations like this. Especially when it's someone doing it themselves instead of using off the shelf stuff. (And like Graig said, nothing wrong with premade stuff it's just less interesting to me)

One of my customers when I was doing Hydraulics had a small press. The type he had is usually a laboratory press, and lasts a long time. He'd wear out the seals in a couple years. Finally I went to pick it up because he was busy and the tenants who'd helped him bring the working part downstairs had moved.
Turns out he was an artist who pressed his own linseed oil and added pigments to make his own paints. "Just like the did back in the old days " he said.

Pretty cool.
