4 Ruth's and 2 Gehrig's makes the 33 Goudey set, even in low grade fairly spendy.

t206 set is a good start if you just go for one card of each player. Don't try to get all 4 Cobb's etc. Same for the t205 set. Iignore the rare back variations and team changes on front and you have a very managable set.
