Default Heritage Spring Catalog Auction – Ends May 12 - 14, 2016

Hey Everyone,

Bidding for the Heritage Spring 2016 Sports Catalog Auction has already started with the auction ending in less than two weeks. The auction is in three sessions ending on May 12, 13 and 14. Bidding for the card lots in session one ends on Thursday, May 12, 2016. The ending of the auction is the same format is has been for years with open bidding ending at 10pm central time then an extended period where each lots ends on an individual basis on a 30-minute clock rule. You have to have bid on a lot before 10pm central time to be able to bid during the 30-minute extended period. Be sure to check the final session card lots ending May 14, there is always a nice selection of vintage cards in that session as well. The Sports dept. home page is: http://sports.ha.com. Registration is free!

As you’re read, catalogs have shipped. To clear up any confusion or mis-information, to keep getting catalogs, some participation (read: bidding) in the catalog auctions is all we ask. Place a min. of $1,000 in bids in the catalog auctions - not the monthly auctions – and you will keep getting catalogs. Winning something is not a requirement. If you would like a free catalog please email me all of your mailing information at peterc@ha.com and we will send one out.

This auction has some great cards and what a great opportunity for the PCL fan! Many of the cards come from new finds from outside the hobby and are being offered for the first time. Some highlights:

- 1893 Just So Tobacco Charlie M. Hastings - Literally pulled from the trash;

- A new collection of 1888 N321 S.F. Hess Creole Cigarettes;

- 1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Honus Wagner;

- A dozen E107 Breisch William cards with Addie Joss;

- A fresh collection of E90-1 American Caramel with Cobb and Jackson and most of the rare names;

- A newly discovered near set of M101-2 supplements;

- Some of the finest E92 Dockman, E92 Croft’s Candy and E94 Close Candy cards you’ll ever see and yes, E98 Black Swamp cards;

- T206s of course. Singles, groups, near sets. You’ll find a Lenox Cobb, Tolstoi Chance and Cobb portraits, a brown Hindu Lajoie and many Old Mill cards including all 12 of the rare subjects! For the print variation fan we have a pair of Tinker and Chance portrait cards missing the red ink;

- An M116 Sporting Life Complete Series No. 1 - Newly Discovered and Intact Since 1910 with the envelope!

- A very nice 1914 Cracker Jack Christy Mathewson;

- A lengthy selection of very high grade 1915 Cracker Jack cards;

- If our PCL collectors aren’t impressed with this auction then we give up. From a collection passed down through one family for over a century are near/complete sets of all three T212 Obak series, 1911 and 1912 Zeenut near sets, D310 partial and D311 complete sets of Pacific Coast Biscuit cards, a 1922 E137 Jim Thorpe and two huge finds – an almost impossible 1911 Zeenut "Pat" Bohen and a currently unique T4 Obak Cabinet of "Black Sox" Buck Weaver (Arms at Sides)! This is a previously unknown pose and the first instance we are aware of where the same player had a second T4 pose!

- A selection of Babe Ruth cards with a Witmor Candy and Famous & Barr rookie;

- Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Joe Jackson cards plus U.S. Caramel, Play Ball, Goudey and Diamond Stars.

Post-war fans won’t be disappointed by the strong selection of high grade 1952 Topps cards.

The auction runs from May 12-14, 2016 and Good Luck!

Peter
