Default 1933 mel ott, real?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis

The 1930 - 1941 "fake" cards that I am alluding to in my prior post on this Thread have all came
from a "yahoo" in the greater Detroit area. He keeps changing his seller's name and his location
about in Michigan.

The reddish image (if this is this case) due to "wet ink" sheet piling is a very distinct impression
of the front of the card. The poor scan notwithstanding, if the entire back of this card has
a pinkish tint to it, it's a recent reproduction. Goudey backs are normally quite white.
Except, of course, when the front image is tranferred on the back.

If I get a chance later, I will scan the F/B of one of these vintage "fakes" that have been
circulating on Ebay in recent years.
