Can you show the back? Different image for Junior from his regular card or the Donruss Preview card that year. Maybe a proof sheet from the factory?

They are paper thickness. I saw one from 1984 that had Strawberry and possibly Mattingly, if I recall. It went unsold at $10, which makes you think twice about it...Were those two that highly touted when those sets first came out? Makes you wonder if these were not fantasy pieces made by someone at a later date to capitalize on their popularity. Not saying this is the case with these, but wouldn't more people who collected or were dealers then remember them? I know dealers used to get glossy cut sheets with product info on them. A lot of them would put them in 8x10 pages with a sample card and in binders so people could review the sets being issued. I couldn't recall seeing anything like that at the time.
It is frustrating that the line between oddball and sometimes even mainstream cards are being blurred with the advances in print technology and the overdose of "reprints" that conveniently now no longer state this on them like they used to, custom cards and ACEOs. It's sometimes hard to know what is "real - produced by a professional, licensed, authorized manufacturer" and what was made by an amateur to appear real either for fun, profit or for the purpose of deception.
