Default Chicago Shops?

I'm going to be in Chicago this coming weekend. I will fly into O'Hare but plan to head downtown too. Are there any good shops with vintage material in the Chicago area?

Default Nope

Nothing in Chicago with vintage. Chicago is only good for hosting shows.

Enjoy the city! It's going to be beautiful here this weekend!

100% correct. This town is dry as a bone when it comes to card stores these days. Go to the lakefront, there's plenty to do down there.
Best,
Tony

The Chicago Marathon is Sunday. 40,000+ runners including my son and daughter-in-law. See you there!

I recommend going to some local shows. The Orland Park show, in the south suburbs, will have a terrific selection of vintage on Saturday. The show is located at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave, 9-2, 70T, a:$1 - John Leary 708-423-1758 newpulse@comcast.net. On Sunday, there are two suburban shows within a block from each other, one is at the Holiday Inn, 3405 Algonquin Road, in Rolling Meadows, 9-2, 40T - Betty Kozlowski 847-520-1980 bettyk777@sbcglobal.net; the other is just up the street at the Radisson, 1725 Algonquin rd., Schaumburg, 10-3, 40T - Fred Copp 847-967-7824 fcopp@sbcglobal.net.

I'll be set up at the Orland Show on Saturday with near sets from 1950 through 1979 along with a selection of pre-war (T205s, T206s, Goudeys, Diamond Stars, Tattoo Orbits and Play Balls).

On Sunday, I'm setting up at a terrific vintage show in Milwaukee about an hour and a half drive from Chicago. There will be substantially more pre-war at this show along with a terrific selection of post-war. The show is located at Gonzaga Hall, in West Allis, 1441 S. 92nd St,, 9-2, 90T, a:$1 - Keith Kilps 414-915-3277 Wsca1975@Yahoo.Com.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Default Atlanta shops?

I thought about starting a new thread for this, but Leon probably wouldn't like everyone asking about shops in their respective areas. So, does anyone know of any shops in the Atlanta up thru Marietta-Gainesville-Athens area that has good vintage stuff? The few shops I've found have mostly 80's to present stuff and very few, if any, pre-War stuff.

...at that Holiday Inn show during my high school years back in the late 80s!!! Good to hear it still exists...cut my teeth on plenty of wax purchases there, and developed my "show game" -where I would enter the show with $25 cash to spend, plus about the same in cards to trade, and see if I could walk out with more than $50 worth of cards & cash, combined. The first time I played it, I absolutely killed it, flipping Mattingly rookies and similar, but then the law of averages eventually caught up to me...

have fun during your visit.

Holiday Inn Show. Wow! Didn't realize it still existed.

Attended many over the years, probably 40-50 or more. Even set up a few times.

Those were the good ole days.

The Holiday Inn show is still there once a month, every month. I usually set up at the Radisson up the street (there are three shows at the Radisson every month) because I've known the promoter Fred Copp forever and he's a really good guy. I think customers enjoy the fact they can visit two shows on the same block. Though I have to admit that the Holiday Inn is the better of the two shows. Also the Orland Park show on Saturday will be better than the Rolling Meadows/Schaumburg shows. The best show in the area this weekend, however, will be in Milwaukee. It is definitely worth the short drive from Chicago.
