EBAY how long should you wait
Posted By: Robert
I have been selling a set of T206's on EBAY and there are about 10 people that have not paid and it has been over a month since the auctions have ended, I know that some of them are board members. I have sent neumerous invoices and contacted them with mostly no response. How long should I wait to post a negative feedback on them. And the part that sucks is once I do then they are most likely going to ding me in return. I have even reported unpaid to EBAY about a week ago and nothing has happened. |

after a few invoices and 3 -4 weeks (and no response)i don't think any bidder could get angry if you relisted the cards and asked ebay for (non-paying bidder)fees. leaving negative feedback should be done also, but i wouldn't advise, as you'll probably get retalitory neg. from the deadbeat. |

Well they might get pissed...but if they violated terms ... they have no leg to stand on! Robert was understanding with me! I hope he doesn't block me from future items, but i respect his decision if that is what he wants. |

Dennis, it's exactly that thought process that makes eBay's feedback system almost worthless. I've never been afraid to leave negs. I've been on ebay since June97, have left more than a dozen negs and have only gotten two in return from those people. Besides, most people are savvy enough to figure when a neg is legit and when it's retaliatory. |

I'm with Jay on this one. If you don't give accurate feedback the system does not help anyone. I recently had to give a negative feedback and was quite surprised when the person gave me positive feedback after they received their negative. If you let them go it's not fair to the rest who use the system. I check with sellers who have a few negative feedbacks to see if they were retaliation feedback or from a new user. Good luck! |

I agree with Jay. I have left two negatives for Non-paying bidders and fortunate enough not to get a negative in retaliation. However, I recognized it as a possibility but felt obligated to use the feedback system like it was meant to be used and provide other ebayers with the facts concerning the transaction. |

EBAY how long should you wait

10 days after the auction ends, I report the buyer as a non paying bidder. Usually that is enough to get the bidder to pay. If they pay and everything is settled, the buyer isn't penalized by ebay. If they don't pay - I think 3 of the nonpaying bidder notices gets them booted from ebay. |

EBAY how long should you wait

Recently I got a non-payment alert from ebay. Found it odd, since I had already received the card. I pointed out to the seller, that since it was unlikely he was in the practice of sending out items to first time buyers without receiving payment first, he must have in fact, received my money order. He made some vague excuse and said that he would "take care of it". He then notified ebay that all was well because we had "agreed to complete the transaction." Well, the transaction was completed 2 weeks prior and it was obvious that he was just trying to cover his butt and was not man enough to admit his mistake. My point is, he never tried to contact me first, which if he had, we could have straightened this out without his unwarranted action. So sellers can be jerks too, which I guess, is really my main point. Oh he also promised to leave me positive feedback, for which I am still waiting. |

As a buyer and seller, I try to complete all transactions quickly. Due to circumstances, 10 days is generally the longest I will wait either way until I will nicely send reminder or e mail, after 3 tries, I will use contact info and call..If no response or person is rude, I will send an e mail to e bay and FVF will be only way to recoup loss of fees but time never gets reimbursed, I just add that buyer to my blocked bidder list. |

I send out a non payment reminder as just that, a reminder. If the winner forgot about it and pays, that's fine. Everyone forgets stuff everyone once in a while. If they don't pay and don't respond for the specified duration, I do the non-payment deal. It's not to be vindictive. Rather, this is the only way the seller can get his fees back from eBay. |

I am sure I would never take legal action, I just use that threat to try to keep them from retaliating. Now I think if I try to contact the buyer several times, go through ebays non paying bidder alert program and give the buyer ample time to pay, and then he retaliates to my negative feedback with his own, I would call that slander. Not the buyers "right" to leave feedback. If he doesn't respond to emails, he loses that right. |

I usually just skip it when the bidder reneges. I figure (1) he/she is a dog anyway and (2) the item is just gonna be worth more later on so the stupidity os on them. If the fees are sufficient, I will apply for a credit and let the chips fall where they may with that. I rarely leave feedback; frankly, once your own feedback crosses a certain level there isn't much point to taking the time to leave feedback. |

I should add that I send the reminder about 2-3 weeks after the auction and the non payment filing deal over a month after and after usually after there is no winner response. So I'm not one of those people who bitches after three days. |

Adam, are you saying that you don't leave feedback for any auctions anymore or just the ones that go awry? |
