Signed Mathewson ball and Cobb bat
From the 1909 Los Angeles Herald, an auction that we all missed but would have loved to attend.
The inflation calculator shows that in 2012 dollars that's about $7,000 for the Matty ball and $1300 for the Cobb bat.

That is actually a colossal price. In 1909, the average house was somewhere around $450.
