This is merely a by-product of the over analysis/illusion of rarity/hyper-scrutiny that has become T206...

I have to agree with the majority here, yes ridiculous but some people collect the crazy T206 print freaks and I have never seen one with the "B" completely solid like this one.

It is kind of neat, if it doesn't sell it will just go in my binder with the many other pages of printing freaks and proofs I have.

Happy New Year everyone!

Is this another Dan Mckee bashing thread by the infamous Kevin Mize or K-Mize as his friends call him?

Or am I just hated by all Kevins?

If it is our Mr. Mize, I sure hope you fare better with this bashing thread then you did with the last one.

A truly fair question Denny but not a chance.

This card is from the recent Baltimore Fresh to the Hobby find that came from the original family.

The cards are untouched and most are nice as you can see in my Baltimore Find Thread.

Take care Denny and have a super New year!

Dan

Amazing restraint by Mr Mckee ater being called overpriced. If you'd dropped your prices on that $100K by 20% maybe you could have sold $120K. But then, that'd be $96K and you would have lost $4K. Hmm.....voodoo economics there........

The print quality of the red B on Starr's cap varies quite a bit. They can be found very neat, with just the top portion of the B filled in, or both the top and bottom of the B completely filled in.

I don't own one completely filled in, though I have seen them, these two are from my collection.

If you really think about it how is this anymore silly than any other T206 printers mistake? I mean just as many folks could say cards like the Shappe is just as silly. Card has value because a tiny part of the capital “R” is missing…yet the card brings big bucks. As do the Doyle cards with dots and no dot.

Probably best not to think about it at all, lest the whole T206 market goes south all at once. Because if you really did think about it.....you wouldn't buy it. No knock on Dan, he can price his cards as he wishes.

Default Print anomalies

starrf.jpgstarrb.jpg

t213-1starr.jpgt213-1starrback.jpg

Here are two t213-1 Starr examples. (the psa card has been traded away)

These print anomalies take time to be recognized by the market. There was a lot of discussion about the merits of the various Sweeney "B" no "B" many years ago.

I think we need to come up with a better name than "Red Blob" variation though.

Too funny! I agree, "red blob" is horrible!

But then again I ain't that swift

Thanks Barry, you never need to say "no knock on Dan"

You always have a Hall pass with me my friend!

I'm okay with calling it the "red blob" error, so long as people are buying it

Tim, It looks like the B in the scan on the right is printed over an A. Could
be a coincidence but it sure looks like a capital A under the B.

I hear you Chris.

I just remembered this one I bought not too long ago and turns out I do own a "red blob."

Hi Pat - I pulled the card out a looked closely at it and what you're seeing is caused by different amounts of red ink in that area. In some places it's a little heavier than others giving the appearance of a shape like an A, but it's all just red ink.

Interesting they all have a slight shift in the blue background, somehow these are linked.

I give the edge to Tim's card, it is by far the rarest!

He has the "Red Blob" error with a CYCLE back!

Now that is 1 tough front/back combo!

I went through my Starr's looking at the blue shift. This one has it, but a nice clear B.

Nice card. I still think the "blob" and shifted blue are linked, as well as there are shifted blues with non "blob" Bs...this topic is getting a bit ridiculous
