Default I love the 80s

I know that there are at least a few closeted 1980s collectors on the Net54 memorabilia side. Even Mark S. had a 1980s jersey in his most recent TSOG video. Would love to see what 1980s treasures everyone has.

I'll start with this SF Giants circa 1988 Humm-Baby pennant. I've been collecting Giants pennants for at least 15 years and had never seen it before. I know there are some very rare baseball and football pennants from the 1980s that go under the radar.

Nice, Doug! I can still hear the Billy Ball radio jingle in my head. You can hear it on this video at about the 29 minutes and 45 seconds mark.

These 80s series pennants are incredibly rare and undervalued in my opinion.

That was the Manager Roger Craig’s favorite saying. We were living in San Jose during that time frame. Was in the “big one” in San Jose during the World Series. We had just ordered a pizza for carry out and was waiting for it to get done. BOOM, earthquake hits and never did get that damned pizza…. ;-)

Nice, Rob. I'll add a few from that Ken Anderson 1982 NFL Properties series in a bit.

As for Butchie and the 1989 World Series, I was also in San Jose at the time. Playing wiffle ball. I had been to game 2 in Oakland. Here are some pins from that World Series.

I must admit the 1980s have been growing on me lately, regarding both baseball and music.

Default HOF Randy Johnson game used ML debut hat

I've shown this Randy Johnson ML debut game used Montreal Expos hat before, but it fits this 80's thread to a T being that it's from 1988.
The hat was gifted to a young Mets fan by the Expos equipment manager at the next series after RJ's debut in Montreal. Some unknown rookie...
Great gift!

Here's to the 1980's!

Good stuff, guys. The Randy Johnson debut hat is especially nice.

This is probably my favorite early 1980s Giants pennant. Uncommon, but not exactly rare. Love the colors and reminds me of the orange pullover jerseys (maybe Oooribay or Mark S has one to show)?

Not orange, but hopefully this jet black pull-over fits the bill. Timing is spot-on (1982) and it doesn’t get much more “80s” than this. Frank Robinson’s Jersey as manager of the Giants in 1982. Gotta love that ‘80s vibe!

Nice, Mark! My first real memories of the Giants are with Robinson as the Manager. Here are some items that go with the patch (these are doubles for me... in case anyone is interested). The pennant is uncommon.

I have some 1980s wax around as well, but no pictures handy.

Speaking of ripping 1980s wax, the 1981 Donruss video below is worth it (if you haven't already seen it).

I can add a pair* of 1981 'rack packs' to the tally...

1981rackpacks.jpg

*I have no clue why I took the pictures the way I did (a long time ago)...making it seem like there are more than just the two of them there. That's kinda weird.

Fballguy posted a Ken Anderson pennant in an earlier post and I wanted to follow-up. Player specific pennants became popular later in the 1980s through the 1990s. See, for example, Domer's website:

https://pennantfever.weebly.com/blog...creen-printers

But that Ken Anderson pennant is earlier. It comes from a series with "NFL Properties 1982" printed on the pennant. And it is rare. I've been able to find pennants for six additional players. For most, I can find only one example. I'm not sure they were ever sold to the public. The Ronnie Lott pennant is mine, and it never had a spine. Perhaps they were prototypes? I have also wondered if their production wasn't stopped (or never really started) due to the NFL strike. If anyone ever finds a Joe Montana for me, I'll pay a nice finder's fee : )

Wow, Clint Hurdle in the rack pack. The player on the SI cover touting him as baseball’s next phenom in 1978 in their annual baseball edition.

Resist the temptation, that rack pack is super valuable! 😂 😆 🤣

I can’t think of the 80s without thinking of this card:

I’d even take that 1982 Reds team over today’s baseball. Man, that was one long season for us Reds fans.

Love this thread. A lot of good memories in that decade from my teens to my early 20s.

How about a record from an ole Cubs guy - or a Big Topps card with no autographs or 1/1's or Refractors to chase - just a set to put together.

What could be more 1980s that a Go Go Joe Charboneau 45? I have it displayed with this really colorful advertising poster.

I just posted about wanting this 1982 NFL Properties Joe Montana pennant and the one person I know who owned it made it available to me. Very thankful. It is now on display with its trash can brother.

My uncle -- who opened the first card shop in our hometown of Bloomington, IN in the early '80s -- won a 1980 Topps complete set at a rural auction for $20 last fall, and gave it to me as a wedding present.

I pulled the Rickey RC, sent it to SGC, and it came back an 8. The others look to be the same shape, so it's a pretty sweet ROI.

And as a kid from Indiana in the '80s, it was inconceivable that I could own this card, let alone get one signed.

this is a really good thread. I enjoy seeing everyone's posts. Happily, my memories start in 1991! Sadly, that's one year too late to remember the last time my favorite team won the WS.

Good stuff. Is that an actual Mookie Wilson jersey?

Here is a relatively recent pickup for me. These are tough to find. I know I had this as a kid.
