Advice on Selling T205s/T206s

About ten years ago, I received a lot of tobacco cards from a family member and have been selling T205s, 206s, 210s factory 25&42 off and on on Ebay and wanted to ask a question if I may. When I have sold cards I do a big scan of the card and try to point out all the imperfections I see. I have some bigger name cards left like t206 Cy Young, t205 johnson & fischer and I just put a T205 Joss on Ebay last week and haven't gotten any bids. I was wondering if it was worth it to send them in to get graded?

In my opinion, the only reason to get them graded is if you are not happy with the way they have been selling up to this point.

Since you have been selling them for a while, you may have an idea what they are worth. Try selling them for a little bit less than you would on eBay here on the B/S/T. You will be able to avoid fees while offering a discount.

I have bought/sold a few cards on the b/s/t and if your prices are good, they will sell right away.

Getting cards graded sometimes cost more than its worth. Of course it depends on condition, which I assume is average. If they look better than ex, get them graded.

Well if its the same Joss I have been watching it is because the starting price is to high. Re-list it after it ends with a starting $ of $50 and I am sure that it will provoke more people to bid. This may cause a bidding war and push the $ well over what it is at now. Just my opinion for what its worth.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think any of my cards are much better than fair condition.

The reason I started the card at that price was because I was afraid if I started it at .99 then it would seem like its not a real card (like one of those reprints people sell).

I would sell on the B/S/T but I do not have a good grasp on what these cards are worth and I feel with Ebay I will definately get what the card is worth or close to it. Am I allowed to put best offer when listing in the B/S/T?

There's an auction section in BST. I tried it myself for the first time, and I think it's a good way to go.

Or you could put a price and say OBO.

I'm not sure about simply "best offer" in the regular BST.

To me it would have the feel of an "auction" where the competition if any wasn't known. In those sorts of setups reasonable offers often get bumped by "someone else who's interested" A fine short term strategy, but not a good one long term. The way it fails is when too many cards get "sold" to the imaginary someone else. Then when relisted excuses are needed and in a small group you just don't get that many deals that fall through. And that sort of rep drives prices down for sellers that do that sort of thing.

If the item was very expensive, I could see where you might want to have private offers made, and it's a bit more standard then.

This is just me, but I would be interested in a number of the cards you have to offer and none of them if they were graded...on the other hand there is a whole universe of collectors who are just the reverse.

I might also package some of the more common items in lots. There have been some rediculous prices paid for very low grade common lots lately...don't know why.

When I sell on ebay (which I mostly do with APBA cards) I start low and trust the market to carry it. I am sometimes disappointed.

If you do back to the E-Bay route - you may want to sell some commons first so you have a feedback record with vintage cards. Then move your bigger ticket items. The fr/bk scans are nice. And remember the sniper. So don't worrry to much if your not getting bids. It all works out in the end. ((most of the time)))

It's .03 to list on Grandslambids and one of the great features is that the seller can see how many snipes are set, and you can set a reserve so you don't get too low of a price. Fixed price and BIN's are also an option. It's been a little slow there but things will pick up very soon....regards
