Default Brooks conrad rookie cards

Wonder what these are going for these days? I have been watching sports for 35 years, and i have never seen anything more painful than watching this guy. I have also never seen a bigger extended meltdown, and this is why bobby cox is truly too good of a guy to stay with a player this long.

He had some huge pinch-hits during the regular season, but he has been a total nightmare on defense.

Default Brooks

There is usually a good reason someone is a 30 year old minor leaguer. No excuses, watching him butcher this game was nauseating but the absence of Billy Wagner was key as well.

This team has been getting it done with bubble gum and duct tape all year. I love the Braves but this is no playoff team. They can't hit, they are mediocre afield and they can pitch on most days. When you get to the playoffs you are going against the best everyday, they have officially turned back into a pumpkin. Congrats Bobby Cox on probably your best managing job ever.

Here's one he picked up:

Would love oppinions. Has anyone seen a bigger tragedy in multiple scenarios in sports than this? This makes bill buckner look like babe ruth.

Conrad had a wicked bad game, but since I am a Giants' fan I tip my hat to him. That was a great game.

I know- the Giants always find a way to lose. I still can't figure out how they lost the Series in 2002.

Barry- you are right, that was brutal. Not as brutal as watching bobby cox stick with conrad. I believe chief noc-a-homa could play better defense. Jeff is right, might be bobby's best managerial effort with so many things going against them.

I'm not a giants hater, but I'm glad Bonds never won a series, maybe it was bad karma.

Can somebody fill me in.

Just got home, out since early this morning. All I know is that my team, the Braves lost. What happened with Conrad?

Yeah, a real shame that former Arkansas Razorback Eric Hinske wasn't the hero after his 2 run shot that put the Braves ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Oh well, I still have former Hog Cliff Lee going in the 5th game for the Rangers

Frank- happy to clue you in. 3 more errors, all of which were easy plays. He even dropped a pop fly. As an atlanta fan, this was as brutal as it gets. I have never seen anything like it in sports, yet bobby stays with him.

In a nutshell:

Brooks Conrad went 0-for-3 and committed three errors, the last of which gave the Giants the lead in the ninth, Sunday in the Game 3 loss.
Conrad has made four errors at second base in three games, and he's just 1-for-10 in the series. He popped up a sac bunt bid in his final at-bat today, and the last error was truly embarrassing, as the ball went right between his legs.

That closer for the Diamondbacks, Byung-Young Kim (sp?), had in my opinion, a worse meltdown in the World Series, but luckily, his teammates bailed him out.

Gary- good case, but i have to argue whole heartedly. Conrad has been making these errors for the last 2 weeks. It almost cost them even having a chance to make post season. Don't get me wrong, i'm sure this guy is a good person, but it has gotten to where this is between his ears, not his ability. why don't they play troy glaus?????????????

1966 World Series, Game 2. Fifth inning of scoreless game--with a man on first Willie Davis drops two consecutive fly balls in CF and throws wild to third base after the second one. Three errors in one inning leads to three unearned against Koufax. Oh, and he was 0-4 at the plate with 2 Ks. My father's face turned all of the colors of the rainbow, as well as several more.

What alot of people don't realize, except die hard braves fans, is that conrad has been making these type errors for the last two weeks. Costly, costly errors. I still don't understand why troy glaus has not been playing. He started his career at third base, and omar infante is better at second base.

It started when he had to be plugged in @ 3B when Prado went out with the ttorn oblique. I believe that he made errors in the last three regular season games and now has carried over to the postseason @ 2B. It is in his head now. Reminds me of the Pedro Guerrero quote when they asked him what he was thinking during a particular game and he said, "Please Lord, don't let them hit it to me, ........or to Steve Sax either."

Default conrad cards

25 of them sold for two dollars

That's about eight cents a piece and that's chrome.

Rick ankiel had one he'll of a meltdown for the cards. Ironically is conrad's teammate now.

Frank,

That would have made a great story but that is no World Series team he had. Again, basic wizardry in my opinion to get them there. We are going to miss Bobby here in Atlanta. Maybe in addition to a new manager they can go out and get some hitters as well.

Brooks SUCKS.
Sad evening in the ATL. I sure hope Brooks didn't buy property here in town. I think that most of knew that defense would be an issue in the playoffs, but come on.

Anyone own a nice Bobby Cox RC to post?

Thanks,
Bob

i'm with Frank; i wish Bobby C. could have gone out with a bigger bang but as jeff says, the team has to better than what was offered.
Does make me miss my old days of living in Atlanta and eating at the Varsity.

best,
