Default Southern Leaguers: T206 Shaughnessy (PSA 6) v. T206 Foster (PSA 6)

Anyone notice this in the most recent SCP Auction --- What's up with this huge difference in price between a T206 Foster PSA 6 and a T206 Shaughnessy PSA 6? While Foster is a tough SLer, Shag is a very popular card and clearly carries a premium in the SLer sub-set. But a near $2,000 price difference???? Did a set registry person just need a PSA 6 Foster?

(Note: I did not win either auction, so I am just making a pricing observation here.)

Foster had an Old Mill back - Old Mills really went for a premium. Check out the PSA 8 McGraw Old Mill that went for $8k+. I am guessing that on the Foster, one bidder was a set registry person, and the other was an Old Mill collector.

I never thought of the back -- now that I think about it, I do tend to see more Fosters with a Piedmont back, as opposed to with an Old Mill back.
