Great pickup... It's definitely a turn-of-century period Crescent glove, and not the similar "softball style" that came along later.

Can you post the dimensions? Looks pretty small, but even the adult gloves from that period were a bit smaller. Nice acquisition... congrats!

Without knowing the exact dimensions, the cloth piping is a sign that it’s a children’s model (rolled leather piping would be more indicative to an adult sized). Pinpointing the exact date of production is difficult without a model number, but I’d venture to say 1895 at the earliest, with the most likely manufacturing date between 1900 and 1910. Unfortunately, most automatically equate crescents with 19th century, which isn’t entirely true. Crescents were in their infancy in the mid to late-1890’s (especially without webbing) with most hitting the market slightly after the turn of the century. Period catalogs show children’s model crescents available well into the teens. That said, it’s a really neat piece with a tremendous patch. Crescents are always in demand, and not only by glove collectors. They’re on the want lists of most memorabilia collectors and card guys sometimes display them along with their cardboard. Nice pick-up!
