Default Could this Post Card be Ty Cobb??

http://cgi.ebay.com/160588700334?ru=...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Post dated 1907 and the card states that the kid on the left is Ty Cobb.

Seeking board opinions

also, what do rookie collectors make of postcards like these, say it's a 1901 photo that was later made into a postcard in 1907.

I saw that same card today. I was looking and think there are some similarities but it just doesn't seem like him. My opinion only but there's something missing. Something about the eyebrow area that seems off.

Also, did some searching for Morse in Georgia (schools, counties, cities) and came up empty which furthers my suspicions.

Well it appears to be a right-handed male, to me the similarity stops there.

I don't think so. The postcard falls into the same category as this postcard I picked up a few years ago.

After looking at it yesterday and today again, I have concluded that it is not him. I do not have the expertise that others here have, but from my lay perspective, the nose and ear comparisons indicate that it isn't him.

I looked at 2 photographs of him in later life for comparison of his ear placement on his head. Specifically, I was looking for where the top of his ear aligned with his eyebrows. I used the photograph on the right to find the angle of his head where the top of his ear would align with his eyebrow. Notice that the bottom of his nose doe not show the nostrils. This indicates a different nose angle or different nose bridge length.

When comparing a more straight on look such that the nostrils are showing, the top of his left ear is not aligned with his eyebrow.

Though it bears a little similarity upon first glance, I'll put myself out there and say that it isn't him.
My analysis isn't anywhere close to as good as bmarlowe's and I'm certain that my description falls short, but it was enough to convince me that the kid isn't Cobb.

Young Cobb on the left, not Cobb on the right.

Looks more like Robert Redford to me, "The Natural" - Young Version!

Agree. Good pic post, Mark--saved me the trouble of digging out one of my several biographies on Cobb which have pictures of him as a youngster.

Could be a young 12 year old Charlie Sheen....but not even close with Cobb.

How could it be Ty Cobb when it is obviously Josh Gibson?

Most people don't know this, but Ty did have a younger brother who played forever in the minor leagues...spending many of those years in Lincoln.

Paul Cobb is in the upper right corner -
