Default Stadium pennants

I have also wondered why most, but not all, teams have "stadium" pennants from the 50s and 60s. You know, these are the very attractive mutli-colored ones that show a mascot superimposed over a sketch of the ballpark. The one's made in the mid-60s also show a primitive trademark; a baseball with 'TM' inside. I have never, ever seen a Phillies pennant of this type, and I live in the area. I've never seen a Senators version, either. Has anyone else? (Haven't seen the Mets, either, although there is a not-too-uncommon version from another set that looks similar, but clearly not from the same manufacturer.) Pretty sure every other team has a version, including Brooklyn, NY Giants, and KC A's.

Has anyone ever seen the ones I haven't seen?

That's exactly right. I know we've discussed this a few years ago. No stadium pennants for the Phillies, Senators or Mets. You can add the Twins to that list as well. The St. Louis Browns disbanded just before the advent of these, so there are none for them.

The Angles DO have one, but it's pretty rare. The Padres/Expos/Pilots/Brewers/Royals came along a bit too late in the game.

As for the most total... The Tigers have the most different variarions, by far.

As for most common... My vote goes to either Pirates or White Sox

As for most attractive... It's gotta be Mr. Red flying over Crosley Field on a Bat.

As for least attractive... How abput the "A" Guy over Municiapal Stadium? The Athletics also have a really neat one with a cartoonish elephant (similar to Dumbo) and another with a more classic elephant over the stadium. But the Batter with the "A" for a body is just plain dumb (IMHO of course...)

I agree regarding the Athletics pennants .... the one with the elephant perched atop 'KC' is sharp looking. I've also seen the more traditional elephant and the "A-guy". I think the latter one must be towards the end of the run because he appears on an Oakland pennant too. Ugly as sin.

Coolest stadium pennant in my opinion is the Dodgers "A New Home" version, with Coliseum. Regarding generic versions, a few teams use that lefthanded hitter graphic (Red Sox, Astros, and a Yankees version). Strangest one is a Redlegs version on white felt, with the entire Crosley field graphic in gray print - you can hardly see it!

Mark - you're reply gave me an idea for another thread ....
