Default WTB 52 Mantle

I'm sure this is a long shot at best, but if any one has a 52 Mantle they're willing to part with, graded 2-3, please let me know. I prefer decent centering and no major creases or paper loss. I would consider a 1 or 1.5 with good eye appeal. I know I'll probably have to find one in an auction house or ebay, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try here.

Be careful on ebay. Read up on how to spot fakes. I have seen a number of fakes in seemingly real PSA holders.

I'd only get one certified high end if I go the ebay route.

I appreciate the tip though, if I go that route I will check it out first and make sure it's from reputable seller.

Bump - I will take Jake's suggestion (to another poster) and post my price range. 10-15k for a 2-3. I could go up to 20 for a PSA or SGC 3.5-4, depending on eye appeal. I am open to BVG or possibly even a GAI graded card.

I would consider an authentic card with good centering, but it would have to be a great looking card. I strongly prefer a numerical grade.

On a major card, personally I would not buy Beckett or Global. I think you will regret that.

Yea I would be more open to Beckett than GAI but either would have to be the right card at the right price. I would obviously prefer PSA first and SGC second. But I am always open to see what someone has to offer.

If you are patient it will not be that hard to find a PSA or SGC at your price or close to it. I would not compromise on a major card.

I'm sure you're right. I don't see the trend of these increasing in value ending any time soon though so I'd like to get one before I'm priced out of the market for what I want.

Don't panic and feel you have to have one today. That usually leads to mistakes. I did that on a CJ Cobb and regretted it very soon afterwards and was lucky to get out of it at only a small loss. I was more patient on the Mantle and some others and it worked out. It may be slowly rising but it isn't going to the moon any time soon.

Bumping this to see if anyone has one or knows someone looking to sell. Ideal card would be a well centered PSA 3 but I am open.

Yea I was watching that one but wasn't sure about the seller. I was surprised the card didn't get an mk qualifier with that line through the #311 on the back.

Peter I did see that three and have emailed the seller. But for what he's asking I would want one centered top to bottom a little better. We're not far apart on the price so I might end up getting it.

And to Chris yea that's crazy I had a feeling the seller didn't have that card from his emails. I did not realize that it was stolen. Not good either way. I can't imagine that someone would steal a card like that and not get it in a different holder. I think it's much more likely that this seller happened to use an image he found online. Although perhaps he's just that stupid and is trying to sell a stolen card.

I ended up finding one thanks to a tip from a fellow Net54 member. I will post an update when I have the card in hand. Thanks to everyone for the advice and leads.

I can't wait to post them and to actually have the card in hand. As I'm sure is true with many collectors I could only dream as a kid of actually owning a 52 Mantle.

Indeed its a nice one, but Jesse, its much better in the hand and seeing it every day.
I was glad to assist you, and glad you did pull the trigger on it. We looked at quite a few of them. I think you be very satisfied.
When i got mine, i displayed it for a month, then realized how precious it was and put it away in a safe.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate your assistance and advice. I wouldn't have even known to look for that one if you hadn't sent the email.

I've already been looking at the 51 Bowman every day when I get home from work so I can only imagine how much time I'll spend staring at this one. I'm sure I'll hear about it from my wife. She always asks how I can keep staring at the same cards every day.

Congrats, bro! I am in the exact same boat-- once in a while I'll take a card from the bank and spend long stretches at my desk staring at it. What it's ALL ABOUT!

I'm working on getting a website up so I can still look at my favorite cards but have the more valuable ones secure in a deposit box. Just curious, anyone else with an opinion please respond. At what point (in terms of dollar amount) do you feel that one card, or a few high end cards, are too valuable to leave lying around the house?

Several factors
1. What people visit your house and have seen the cards (kids as well)
2. Whom have you told you have valuable cards
3. Do you keep a safe hidden
4. Insurance
I factored all this all in, and came to a conclusion, card over 1k i may want put away, but thats my scenario. I think you have to stash the 52 away in my opinion, but its you to decide how much access you want to it.
Sidenote: I use Photobucket and also save them on my computer to occasinally view the pics. But there are also other great sites.
