This post got zapped, perhaps at direction of informant, so it may get zapped again. If there's nothing here--wait till friends communicate.

80-90 % of tables have stuff since the early 80s. Well, with 1000 tables, that leaves 200 for you to look at, so you wouldn't be bored. First reaction: cards were good, crowds were poor ( the comic convention--mentioned elsewhere--had 70,000; not the National). Second reaction: cards were not as good as they could have been. Mastro and his catalogue were quite visable, and most of the stuff in it. With that stuff, you KNOW some people are not saving their best stuff for the National--even at $1000 a table! To see Terry Knouse's table is worth the price of admission alone, of course. All the regular people were set up. Informant REALLY felt crowds were not up to snuff (but felt the same way last year).
Informant felt the show was well promoted, and of course, if you've set up at the last 15 Nationals, you get an excellent choice of tables. The lighting is excellent everywhere, but there are of course some locations more desirable than others.

That's about it. When I say cards, I mean, of course, vintage cards.

It took informant several minutes to come up with the statement that "cards weren't what they should have been"; informant's first reaction was that they were fine. Perhaps it was the sight of Mastro's table, with all those incredible things on it, that made informant think of the less-than-wonderful cards!
