Default Nagy "Wagner"

Posted By: Robert

I noticed that the Nagy collection had only the Wagner graded, and it was by GAI and not PSA. Why do you think they choose to use GAI? I think it's because they wanted that extra 1/2 grade to boost the dollar volume once it hits their auction.

I agree and possibly GAI was a little more leniant then SGC or PSA would have been. The card did not look like a Vg card to me. I asked Mastro who they would use for the rest and they said they hadn't decided yet.

I don't collect caramels but you guys that do should enjoy the December auction.

The yellow cards with players inside of stars that a few asked about in another thread.....Mastro told me they were rare postcards only distributed in the Detroit area.

It looks like the Mastro auction in December will be something very special. They might need a separate catalog just for the Nagy collection !!!

Look for the Nagy cards to be on ebay around Christmas time. Several dealers were eyeing them with the intent of busting them up and selling them on ebay.

I agree that Wagner looked overgraded by about a half grade. I think I heard someone around the Mastro table say that they went with GAI, in part, because GAI had never graded a Wagner before and it was sort of a favor to help them out.

Edited to add that that is a damn nice card wether it is technically vg or vg+.
