Default Irish Americans influence in early baseball

Posted By: Ron

I was wondering if there are any books that trace the influence if Irish Americans during the early years of baseball and who some of the tops stars of the game were in that time frame. I would have to say King Kelly would be a good starting point. Others?

Thanks,
Ron

July 2, 1903 and also Ed Delahanty in the Emarald Age of Baseball - a little after the King but still good for the topic none the less.

I do a lot of research about boxers and baseball players and find information in older publications from the 19th century and early 20th century. There should be some information on the web as I have had lots of luck with the boxers I research.

good luck

Jimmy

Jerrold Casway's Ed Delahanty in the Emerald Age of Baseball has a lot to say about the rise of the Irish influence in baseball. Casway's a professor, so he's into social history.
