Am posting this completed auction for a friend--as I believe he got taken & bought a FAKE!

Would appreciate your opinions--and hope I can save his money in time if it is:

From a quick glance it looks ok. Needs a black light shined on it.

Frank.

Do reprints of '14's exist? I've only seen them of '15's, and this is definitely a '14.
The font and inks look good to me- the border tone matching the tone of the interior of the card.

Looks good to me. Why do you think it is fake?

I have seen re-print 1914's, but think your Comiskey looks to be legit; think your buddy got a great buy..

Thanks to all who have responded.

I thought the borders looked too large (esp. the top) & too white. I was under the impression the cards were not printed w/ white color & that it should look more "cream colored". It has a "washed out" look to me also.

I also was skeptical because of only 2 bidders & seemingly low price it brought!

Am I very wrong w/ the above observations?

Fred--Think maybe the seller sold himself short by not placing the year in the listing title. I do my searches for "1914 Cracker" and "1915 Cracker"...I never saw the card or would've bid..beyond the high bid! Yes, usually cream colored borders, but often find some very whites..

Thanks for explaining, Dave.

I am trying to learn and welcome all comments--In my haste to protect my friend's money it appears I was all wet on this one!

I was the under bidder on the T206 Cy Young he had for sale. The Young was legit and he even emailed me close up scans of it. He also sold another fairly expensive card prior to these too. The font of the Comisky looks good which is always darker and bolder on every fake CJ ive seen.

Dave S.-- I once found a group lot of four 1914 Cracker Jacks on Ebay( 3 commons and a Joe Tinker) that were listed under " Old Cracker Jack cards". I was the only bidder and got the four cards for $40.00. This was about seven years ago when I was first starting the set. I usually don't look under any other headings but "1914 Cracker Jack" anymore, but after this Comiskey maybe I should.

As for the card, it looks legit to me. Another way of telling is if you click on the back scan, you can see through to the front. Reprints are thicker.
