1969 topps print variation
I was sitting with Lee(Sterling Auctions) today at the sportscard show in st paul, mn...and a woman had this card that was in her husbands collection. At first sight it appeared to be a cut 4 in 1 attached to a 1969 topps card.
But upon inspection it was printed. Never seen anything like it? Has anyone? SGC will be grading it. |

Those are rub offs. That was placed onto the card by someone way back when.
I did that to a couple of cards myself back then. Regards, Butch

It’s a decal added to the card. I have several as well. Apparently kids did it all the time.

Have a few of my own. As kids we stuck those decals on cards and everything else..

Agree they have been seen stuck on cards before. But Pete, who
Is not a novice collector, says he can not detect a a transition. I have a set of the 4 in 1s but have never peeled one and applied it to something .. and am not starting now. But no matter how thin they are would there not be a transition ? Plus the area on the right side of the sticker looks peculiar to me. Anyone have one in hand pasted to something to see if there is a detectable transition ? Last edited by ALR-bishop; 04-21-2024 at 02:32 PM. |

Al, it's a Topps Decal, not a 4 in 1-- the poses are different. The decals would basically transfer the image and at most would leave a somewhat sticky surface for a short while. That would be about the only "transition".

Definitely a decal; you can see the border equidistant around the black border line. Waste of time to grade.

Those decals are extremely thin. The black border around Gibson wouldn't be rubbed off in areas if it was printed on the card.
