1.5 Billion for the Athletics Stadium in Vegas
Yes Sir, 1.5 Billion! I believe the target date is 2028 for completion. Maybe, just maybe, the A's can put together a competitive team by then!
Remember, no betting on baseball - just ask Pete! But hey, let's put a stadium on the Strip! This begs the question - Does a single baseball team generate more net profit (not gross revenue) than a large Casino? Food for thought. |

The stadium is probably going to be Fantastic
The Events will probably be Sold Out The Baseball Games will not be. Hopefully they start investing money in the team to make them competitive to excite the fans to come out to the ballpark But if the Ballpark is Opening in 2028 Then the team will probably not invest in baseball until 2027. Sadly

10 - 15 years after completion, it probably gets demolished for a revenue generating casino.

Yup. Especially if they actually try and put it on The Strip. |

I assume her frustrations come from not being listened to:
The A's ballpark is planned for a nine-acre parcel on the Las Vegas Strip and Goodman said the congestion makes the site less attractive than a larger site in north Las Vegas, which she proposed. However, the mayor and the city do not have jurisdiction over the Strip, which falls under the oversight of Clark County. |

Yup...and likely they're underselling the cost of the stadium on The Strip, which leads her to believe they're going to eventually ask for more of it to be subsidized by the residents...and how will they be able to say no, once ground has been broken and a big hole is being dug out of Las Vegas's version of "Times Square"? Fisher is a rat, and everybody can smell it on him from a mile away. Last edited by D. Bergin; 02-07-2024 at 09:39 AM. |

It might be cheaper to send fans to Oakland from vegas.

The city of Worcester Massachusetts made an agreement with the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox. Where the city would pay to build a stadium. It's currently at $155 million.

The Yankees received over a billion dollars from New York City to build the new stadium. It's always done under the guise of "creating jobs" but those jobs evaporate pretty quickly and not building a school or some other essential public space instead lasts forever.

I live in Las Vegas. We already have the nicest AAA baseball stadium (Las Vegas Aviators) in the country. It's located just 15 minutes away from where the new A's stadium will be situated. It's called he Las Vegas Ballpark, definitely check it out if you get to visit. You can rent the pool out for $2000, capacity is 50 people.

Pessimist...
Maybe they'll dig up Jimmy Hoffa's body and deposit it below home plate in the new stadium. Or someone can start that rumor. I know you'll miss that stadium in Oakland. You have a lot of good memories there. The last time I was at the Coliseum was about 10 years ago. True to form, the stadium was pretty empty during that week night game.
