Default O/T trivia

Name a team (postwar) that had on its roster in a single season a 300 game winner, 3 200 game winners, and 4 150 game winners. In case it is not clear, this is 8 total pitchers, no overlap.

Without looking, I think it was one of the Dodgers teams around '65-'66, with Koufax, Drysdale, Sutton and Claude Osteen, if I remember right...

Had they all already won that many games or had some of them not yet reached the mark?

Darn, Peter, I was hoping for a "That's not the answer I'm looking for" response.

Default It used to be...

Terry Forster.

But, since then Roberto Hernandez finished up his career with a .500 batting average (1/2) in 1010 games. I think there was one other guy who finsihed 1/1 in his career that beats Hernandez.

Interesting, I didn't know about Roberto Hernandez, but Forster is who I was thinking of

Over 16 seasons Forster was 31 for 78, for a batting average of .397. That's not easy to do.

The questions said 500 games or more. I am assuming it is whoever has the highest batting average according to the recent Negro League statistics project which compiled partial statistics based on verifiable box scores. Judy Johnson maybe?

Terry Forster played in 620 games. So he does fit the question.

What is most surprising to me is that Hough had more career wins than Hooton and Rhoden, two top pitchers of their era.

A bit O/T but a question which I thought was pretty interesting when I just heard it, so I'll toss it out to keep the trivia going....

Four colleges who can claim a Super Bowl winning QB and a US President as their graduates. One of the schools had two QB’s.

Name the school, QB and President.

Stanford -- Herbert Hoover and Jim Plunkett. I know Gerald Ford went to Michigan but I can't think of any Michigan QB who won the Heisman.

Staubach went to Annapolis (Navy) and Jimmy Carter. Stanford had both Elway and Plunkett as QBs and Hoover. Also Tom Brady went to Michigan and Gerald Ford too.

Damn it Peter! Pay attention! Heisman wasn't mentioned in this question. (However, after reading your post, I completely forgot the real question and was racking my brain for Heisman winners/Presidents!) You sucked me right in!

Hoover/Plunkett and Carter/Staubach would also work IF the question had been Heisman winners. Several presidents went to Yale and without cheating I have a vague memory from somewhere that early on a Yale quarterback won the Heisman.

Who am I?

I thought I had the world by the tail, in my major league debut at age 18
I went 3 for 3 with 2 walks,scored 4 runs, and drove in 3.

Then I got hurt, and watched my 2 younger brothers play in the major leagues, while I never played again.
