Default Still a newbie, but with a new acquisition to share (my 1st estate lot purchase)

Some of you may have seen my thread in the autographs forum about the 1953 World Series signed program I recently picked up. That came from a guy who bought a huge lot (135 large boxes!) from an estate auction in May. Since the first deal went so well, he kept me in the loop on what other vintage baseball items he found. This may be just the tip of the iceberg since he said he still has over 100 boxes to go through (not just sports, but art, military items, books, antiques, etc...)

Well, after seeing the description and some scans, I had to pull the trigger. It's pretty exciting to make a lump purchase like this off Ebay. No guarantees with the signed items, but I still see a lot of potential with the lot. I'll be pretty busy over the next several weeks, I'd imagine.

PROGRAMS

1 1951 World Series (unsigned)

1 1951 World Series (signed by Larry Goetz)

1 1951 World Series (signed by Leo Durocher, Fred Fitzsimmons, Horace Stoneham, Charles Feeney, Edward Brannick)

1 1951 World Series (signed by Douglas MacArthur)

8 1953 World Series (unsigned)

2 1954 All-Star (unsigned)

6 1955 World Series (unsigned)

3 1956 World Series (unsigned)

3 1956 World Series (signed by Larry Goetz)

1 1959 World Series (signed by Ford Frick)

2 1959 World Series (unsigned)

1 1962 All-Star (signed by 6, including Ford Frick)

3 1971 American League (unsigned)

4 1971 World Series (unsigned)

1 1979 World Series (unsigned)

OTHER

1 1950's Dodgers silk scarf/banner

3 Pennants (Milwaukee Braves, 1948 Cleveland Indians World Series, 1976 Cincinnati Reds)

1 Philadelphia Phillies Christmas Card

1 baseball figurine

2 1961 Cincinnati Reds NL Pennant glasses

1 1967 St. Louis Cardinals World Series button/badge

1 Joe Morgan button

1 1976 American League pocket schedule

1 1993 Colorado Rockies inaugural baseball

3 News clippings

5 untitled baseball books

1 Greatest Moments in Sports LP record

1 Robert Merril Brooklyn Baseball Cantanta LP record

3 Stan Musial autographed photographs (personalized)

1 Dizzy Dean & Paul Dean autographed baseball

SCANS

For inquiring minds, an even grand delivered.

I can't seem to find it.

I'm guessing it didn't sell (clubhouse/high reserve)? I know that this seller purchased everything from the estate, so he must have tried to sell it on Ebay first.

Even without the Dean ball, I still see some upside.

He told me they were selling everything for a friend or something. But yeah the ball had a reserve and it didn't meet it. I think the ball only ended up going either 300 or 400. He had two really nice Heubach statues but he ended it early and told me that the lady he was selling the stuff for sold them to her relative.

Interesting. Well, I'm pretty comfortable dealing with the guy after this first deal. That does seems a bit low for the ball, if genuine. Of course, a PSA/DNA letter would help the cause.

Thanks for the scoop.

What a coincidence! I just saw that "Brooklyn Baseball Cantata" at a local auction yesterday. I looked it up, from 1948 valued between $10-$20.

Sweet! There are a lot of interesting items here...even if most are lower valued.

The sheer number of programs is what caught my eye. Everything else was gravy.
