Default Anyone see anything wrong with this 51 Mantle?

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum but not new to the hobby. I have read many useful threads from many very knowledgeable people on this page. I believe there is something amiss with the attached card. I am not going to purchase it regardless, but with all the issues with slabs of late, I was wondering what some experts might be seeing here.

There should be a strip on the back with the serial number, no?

Not necessarily. PSA and their great marketing team made these flips for a short time when the first changed the slab. You know the tamper proof ones. Then after several sent in their cards for reholdering they changed the flip to have that strip on the back you are referring to. It was great for them because it got several to get their cards reholdered twice.

I thought once they went to the hologram they all had the strip. There was an earlier tamper proof holder with no hologram. But I could be wrong.

I have a few I personally sent in so I know they made them. I can post pics if you want.

Your word is good with me.

Do you see anything else obviously wrong with the Mantle?

No I don't Peter, but I am far from an expert on early Mantle cards. I do know that PSA also put some of those flips in old style slabs. Can't remember who it was but they posted on here that they received both style slabs with those early holo flips on the same submission.

Looks pretty good to me, except centering isn't great.

The card looks legit to me and looks like it could be a 6 with those nice corners. Psa is constantly changing flips, holders, and the font style, making it even tougher to identify a fake slab.

I looked at it for a while and then checked out a few online.
Am I right that his head doesn't look quite right?

The flip looks legit. My concern was the possibility of a trimmed card inserted into a holder with a legit flip from a real PSA 6 that was removed and can now be resent for submission once again. The price on this card made no sense and the person who offered it had other cards in bogus PSA slabs with absolutely bogus PSA flips. I thought maybe someone here saw something I couldn't see wrong with the card. Thanks for your help guys.

... E-Bay won't do anything about him for a year but it would be nice to share his E-Bay ID here so that none of us on the forum wind up buying "bogus PSA slabs with absolutely bogus PSA flips "...thank you..

Then there's your answer. Why on earth would you buy the card under these circumstances?

The person was not on eBay. This was a new member on blowout. I believe he is a pawn for all the bad slabs coming out of Mexico as he is located in San Diego. Regardless, the problem definitely exists and hopefully there is a solution at some point in the game.

The solution will be law enforcement, presumably. Although this has been going on for quite some time and it still appears to be.

I went and looked and just from his posts says his name is Ivan and lives in Arizona. Is also offering $500 to anybody who will help him unload high end cards.
