Default makes you mad

does it make you made when you sell a card or item on here and the buyer then turns around and sells it on ebay? the reason I ask I was looking through some t206 cards on ebay and found one I know for sure that was sold on here and it has popped up on ebay for a HUGE mark up. it would piss me off giving a suppose fellow collector a deal and then turning around jacking the price through the roof on ebay or another sight. give me you thoughts thanks

I know many have the credo..."once you sell a card...the new owner can do whatever they want with it"...not me...it pisses me off too!!!!

What pisses me off even more is when I send a card into SGC(for example)...and it comes back altered...then I sell it cheap on the BST only to see it holdered shortly thereafter and selling for 20X what I sold it for...that's the WORST!!!!!!

I am of the mantra that once I sell it the new owner can do what they want to. My only bit of concern is when/if they lie to me and say it is for their collection...they will never sell it blah blah blah....then within a few days they are selling it. It's not a big deal but I would remember and maybe not give them the same deal in the future...again, only if they lie to me. I buy stuff every day for resale...but I don't tell the seller it is for my collection unless it is.

I also think it's bad when people ask for a lower price from you, only to mark it up well past what the original asking price was. As if me knocking $25 off makes it worth it to you to make $175 instead of $150. I usually try to give good deals on here, but I remember when people turn around and sell it quickly and then future prices for them become firm.
I am dealing with this as we speak (remember the Koufax rookie everyone was low balling me on?). No, it doesn't bother me. I got offered a price and I accepted. If he is able to get a price that I wasn't able to obtain, then more power to him. Everyone that saw the card had the opportunity to buy it. I was asking what I thought was a very reasonable price for the card ($430) and was still getting low ball offers. Now the card has gone to a dealer and he is asking $600 for it. I hope he gets it!

When I list a card on the B/S/T section and it sells, I'm happy that I made a sale and was OK w/ the price that I set.
If the buyer chooses to re-market it and make a profit, good for him. Win/Win!

I've been on both ends of this. I don't mind it. I give deals to board members and I hope to get deals in return. Sometimes the member will turn the item for a profit, and sometimes I will do the same. I don't mind it too much. I know what I can get for something. Often I choose to go the forum route, not because I think I can get the most, but because I enjoy dealing with forum members, I hate the hassle ebay can sometime bring and I can do quick transactions. I don't mind people turning a profit off of me.

I actually like it when they make some money. They are more likely to buy cards in the future. I agree with Leon though do not lie about why you want it.

I only hate it when the buyer says "can I get a better price it is for my personal collection". So I give them a better price and within a week I see it on eBay or another forum for sale.

If they are just buying a card at my asking price I do not care what they do with there new card.

This has happened to me and it does make me mad. Worse to me is when someone is begging on BST every week for someone to sell them a certain card they desperately need for their set, I sell them the card to help them out, and they turn around shortly thereafter and sell it for a lot more.

I think I know which card you are talking about and its a bit frustrating as a potential buyer, I hesitated on it and missed the opportunity.

I've had this happen to me, buyer begged for a deal as it for his collection and to overnight it. A few days later on eBay for 5x price. His card, he can do what he wants. Was a bit frustrated, quickly moved on.

Once I sell something, it's no longer mine, and I could care less. I can only think of one time when someone 'whined' me into giving them a deal I normally wouldn't have, and I saw it a short time later, sold for a huge profit. Someone who claimed to be a descendant of the founders of 'EPDG' bought an original box from me for peanuts, because he had to have it because of the family ties, but he was too poor to give me anywhere near what it was worth. I was a sap. Yeah, he sold it. But that's on me.

And like the poster above, I don't feel any guilt if I get a tremendous deal (with no whining). I accidentally bought something for $100, thinking I had paid too much. The seller probably originally paid $10 and was thrilled. It turned out to be extremely special and I sold it for several thousand $ and was even more thrilled. Everyone was happy and no one felt any guilt. It later sold for double my price and so that guy was also happy. Probably the only person who felt screwed was the guy who originally bought it from the photographer back in the 1890's. Mounted photos cost a crapload in today's dollars.
