What do you do for a living.
I haven't seen this done before on this forum. If I missed it. I apologize.
I'm a material handler in the shipping and receiving department for a large pharmaceutical company in Cambridge Mass. I've been there for just over a year. It's an amazing place to work. I love it. |

Nice. And you got to retire at 52. Even nicer.
Our pension has unfortunately gone to hell, though. $50/credit year, 1900hr/credit year(anyone familiar with the trade knows this is quite improbable in a calendar year), and a retirement age of 65. We've basically gotta start lining up retirement on our own, otherwise we'll be at this a VERY long time.. Luckily our hall does have an annuity set up too, so it's not all bad... Aside from the embarrassing pension, definitely proud to be union... Last edited by novakjr; 08-31-2013 at 02:20 PM. |

Just retired from the US Air Force today--8/31/13! I was a Aircraft Electrician for 20 years and now I am in Denver as an Avionics QA inspector. I am proud of the time I served and of the places I have been; now I am happy to wear shorts to work and having facial hair.

+1. Very appreciative of the time served. My father was a career military man as well. Sometimes wish I'd followed in his foot steps but became a corporate lawyer instead.

Currently sort of in transition.
I've been a bicycle mechanic since 2001, Hydraulics before that. Stay at home dad since 2010 and doing the bike stuff part time. Started looking for something better paying when daughter #2 arrived, went looking for a job and found client number 1 - So I'm statrting some independent mechanical/product design. Not quite sure how it will work out yet, but so far so good. Steve B |

Re-retired.
30 years in the education finance business, moved to the Eastern Sierras, got bored, worked 4 months for the USPS, that was enough of that. Grow vegetables, build the occasional bamboo fly rod, chase a few fish. Keith

I own an antiques and collectibles shop for the past year...before that I owned a video store for 27 years. Netflix, Redbox and the internet finally did me in, but I am proud to say that I outlasted every mom and pop, Hollywood, and almost all of the Blockbuster stores in my town.

Previous life..
Retired once in 2003, did a life sentence with the Vancouver Police Dept. Took six months off and then went back to work as an Investigator for a computer software company for eight years. Retired again about a year ago, and trying hard to keep it that way. Smart enough to keep my wife working, but not smart enough to come up with a Rose RC at an affordable price yet.
