Christy Mathewson Type 1 Photo ID?????
Hey all,
Picked this up recently and had a few questions about it. First some facts about the photo: It is 8"X10" and is sepia toned and is glossy. 1) According to the Fogel/Yee book, the stamp on the back definitely puts it between 1915-1920. So my assumption is that since Matty joined the Reds in 1916 and ended in 1918, COULD THIS BE CONSIDERED A TYPE 1 PHOTO??? 2) Edd Rousch came over with the trade, and that is him standing next to Matty, however, Matty is holding a glove and it looks like a team lineup before a game, AND Matty only pitched 1 game for the Reds on September 4th, 1916 against Mordecai Brown, SO COULD THIS BE THE PICTURE FROM THAT GAME SINCE HE HAS A GLOVE IN HIS HAND?? 3) Lastly, does anyone know who the other player is in the photo??
