Is that really Bill Abstein on the T206 card?
I have wondered about this awhile, and finally decided to throw it out there. When you compare to photos of Abstein on C46 and M101-2, the T206 image doesn't really look like the same guy. Any thoughts? If not Abstein, any idea who it might be?

Yes, its the same player. The C46 is the best representation. T206s don't really capture the details of players' faces that well. Abstein's face looks bloated on the T206.

You may be onto something there as that doesnt look anything like Bill Abstein...
Of all the 1909 Pirates imo the guy looks most similar to Lefty Leifield (minus his characteristic dimple chin)

Abstein
That's what I was thinking too. Looks more like Leifield than Abstein.

Also, take a look at this team photo with a squared up shot of abstein. There's no way that t206 image is for him.

You have a point... His T205 card. Same vertical nose, chin, ears line up correctly, eyes are closer together.

I don't know. I suppose we could take a vote, but I might find myself absteining.

Board member bmarlowe1 determined a few years ago it's most likely Howie Camnitz.

One of our members here was doing some research on this about a year ago and he came up with another possibility, maybe he will chime in. He asked me not to say anything back then, so I'll wait to see if he pops in to this thread

Tim the pic of Camnitz as well as his 205 shows his face is skinnier than the Abstein card. Was Camnitz heavier that yr?

Apparently the board member I was referring to was also posting at the same time as me, so there is your answer

I've always been entertained by the facial expression and position of the right hand on his T201....

You'd think he could Abstein at least until the artist was finished.
