Default AUGUST pickups

#179-I see it has changed hands 4 times in the last 2 years, hopefully, it should now have a home for a while.

Just got these in. I'll be adding them to my shelves on my 55 Dodger wall as decoration. I'm really clad to have found the Shuba, as he has not been able to sign for the last couple of years due to failing health.

Got these signed in person and graded on the spot. Not too happy with some of the grades, as they varied quite a bit from the pre-slab break

Yes, it is a custom creation.
Not sure why they called it a cut.
Even more not sure why I had it slabbed.

This one, on the other hand they rightly labelled a "cut."

From the Huggins and Scott auction, I got this scroll signed by 178 players from the AL in 1935. I always wanted a Gehrig auto, so I was thrilled to pick this up!

Great pickups guys!

Here are a couple of nice recent pickups for me:

Johnny Vander Meer signed 1943 R302-1 M.P. & Co. card. Signed by Vandy just before he passed away in 1997

Sal "The Barber" Maglie signed A/P (Circa early 1950's). This sig is HUGE!
Many thanks to net54 member David Linardy! Love it!

I hope you are all having a great summer!

Default Vintage Mantle

I've been after a vintage mantle signature for quite some time...

Found a boardmember that was kind enough to remove this one from a 1952 Cardinals/Yankees team sheet that was likely signed during spring training in ST. Pete...

got it back from my Framer yesterday...

Dave that looks unreal. It matted out so well. Such a great early example. Enjoy!

Default My favorite movie EVER.

Sorry. I know it's not sports, but I'm pretty stoked.
I recently obtained an original movie poster along with signatures of the 3 stars of the movie Inherit the Wind. The 1960 version starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, and Gene Kelly is my favorite movie of all time.
The poster is approx 14 x 18. The whole framed display is 20 x 24.

Thanks Chris.
I think it is a very under-appreciated movie, especially by the younger crowd.
I'm in the process of doing a couple other of my favorite movies this way. I'll post them when they're done.

Mark,

Do you have a home theater that you are displaying them in? If not, you need to!!!!

I have alluded to this pick-up in another thread, but I finally sprung for a Ruth. My pseudo-goal is to slowly acquire handwritten letters of HOF'ers, starting with the first class, but Ruth and Matty were going to be nearly impossible, so I'm compromising. I have a Cobb and my Johnson is particularly nice, but that's getting off-track.

This autograph was obtained by Bernie's mother at the Ward Theatre in the Bronx and sent to her son, who was stationed in Ohio - Ruth was appearing at various Bronx movie theaters in a War Bond effort.

Next up is Wagner.

Thanks, Mark. I refinish old pool cues, so this wasn't a huge stretch. But cues are much easier - you remove anything that isn't wood, then add sealer and whatever finish you desire. The Roush involved a lot more experimentation and thinking, but I'm very happy with the end result. If sold I will certainly lose money, but the experience was worth it.
