Default August - Pick Ups

A great in-person haul for a guy that lives 3 hrs from the closest MLB stadium and perhaps attends 4 MLB games a year now. Got all of these Blue Jays greats/alumni throughout July but I am compiling them here in one post.

1992/1993 WS crested Jays authentic jersey signed by:

- Jack Morris (Vancouver Canadians "Superstar Signing" event
- Dave Stieb (ditto) - having a Jays' affiliate team in town is awesome!
- Roberto Alomar (Jays 40th Ann Event hosted by Robbie's Charity, in Toronto)
- (all these are from the same event) - Joe Carter, Devon White, Cito Gaston, Ed Sprague, Duane Ward, Rance Mulliniks, Kelly Gruber and Pat Hentgen

- Joe Carter signed 1993 WS Game 6 full ticket (WS wininng HR)
- Duane Ward signed 1993 WS Game 4 stub (15-14 game, Ward got the save)
- 1993 game use umpires line up card signed by Cito, Pat, Ed and Robbie
-1989 ALCS Program signed by cover guys - Joe, Robbie and Devo
- 1992 ALCS program signed by MVP Robbie
-1992 WS Game 3 wire photo of Gruber's "triple play that wasn't" tagging Deion signed by Kelly
- photos signed by George Bell, White, Gruber (2), Lloyd Moseby signed McCarthy
- Jorge Bell signed 1986 Topps reg card and AS card and Moseby and Jessie Barfield signed 1986 Topps cards
- 1985 ALCS program: Moseby, Bell, Barfield, Gruber and Rance to go along with the KC's Danny Jackson auto I obtained in person as an 18 year while in attendance at Game 7 (oh the horror!)

Also at the Stieb signing in Vancouver I got Dave to sign:

- photo of him leaving the field after his no-hitter in Cleveland in 1990
- Stieb's bat (he asked for it back and I thought for a second he really wanted it, but said that it was his model and that is was "cool to see it"). Dave came up as an outfielder that could hit a bit but only had 2 AB's in his MLB career
- only photo a I could find of Dave holding a bat (it's a LVS too!)
- Dave signed my 1985 ALCS program too

Chris-
Really nice pieces there!

Rance Mulliniks....Growing up, I always looked at him and thought, "Christ, if that guy can play in the majors then anyone can!" Guy looks like he should have been a bean counter for the IRS!

Thanks Andrew! Rance was really pleasant, signing for and chatting with everyone, all night. Here's how he looks now along with some of the other guys.

I'm primarily a card collector, but I picked this up to go with a few Mantle cards I own.

Thanks Scott! I had a blast at the alumni event and dug deep into my meager collection to find the right items to get signed as the access was unprecedented, especially for a guy on the left coast! Now worrying about displaying some of this stuff, which is a nice problem to have.

Default Steve McQueen

I just bought ten photographs taken during the filming of The Sand Pebbles starring Steve McQueen in 1966. Two of the photos are signed by Steve McQueen, one in full and one with first name only and one photo is signed by his wife Nelie. Most of the photos picture McQueen. The photos are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.
I bought them from the grandson of a sailor who was stationed in Taiwan at the time that the movie was being filmed there. (this sailor is pictured in the second signed picture).

Just purchased a photo album of the 1914 Boston Braves with a bunch of autographed photos in it. Also has lots of non-braves photos too.

What do you guys think of this Evers?

Hi Chris,
Yes, I do have a Dave Stieb signed no-hit ticket stub.
He signed it for me through the mail about 8 years ago, BTW.
I am still on the hunt for a season ticket version of this ticket, but I have yet to find one.

Here is an unusual/interesting coincidence:
Dave Stieb and I were born at the same hospital in Santa Ana, CA in the same year. We were two of the very first children born at this hospital. Go figure!

Just got back from The National in AC and had a great time and spoke with a lot of people.

Here's the baseball that Ron Blomberg autographed for me.

Mr. Blomberg was extremely friendly and we had a nice conversation.

Default The rocket

Roger Clemens was the guest coach at this evenings bluefish game... Got to meet him beforehand and get my 1984 pawsox card... roger and my father share the same birthday 8/4 so I asked him to inscribe it... I guess it's going to be my pops belated birthday gift! On another note, roger was friendly, extremely gracious and went out of his way to accommodate fans... All In all a real class act.

Interesting coincidence for sure. Here's my signed ticket, also a ticket master style but a full ticket, I believe.

Here's Dave from last month, in Vancouver with a friend of mine.

Very nice, Chris!
BTW, I recall seeing your ticket on eBay in an auction perhaps 5 years ago.
How long have you owned it?

Was Stieb a guest at a card show? I can't recall him doing a show in the United States.

The Vancouver Canadians, a Blue Jays short season single A affiliate team had him up as part of their "Superstar Series". They bring a few Jays and Mariners alumni etc up each summer.

Thanks! Unfortunately there is also a Jason Giambi sig on there. I got him, Torre, Jeter, Rivera, and Posada all on the same day at Spring Training in 2002 right after the Yankees signed him. If only I could go back in time.

But on the plus side the $100 I spent on Andy at the National is the only money I've put into the ball.

That's terrific that you were able to get it done for $100 plus your time chasing them down...

Great Yankee Ball there. The only thing that irks me a bit is that they came up with the Core Four catchphrase and excluded Bernie! Should make it the fab 5 or something, Bernie was homegrown and the top position player early on in the title run! But that's a great baseball!

I'm pretty thrilled with my latest autograph addition!...

Really excited about a couple of pickups from the latest SCP auction.

Both are from the Dodgers farm system and both are from 1946, the year before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier on the Major League level. The 1946 Montreal Royals ball was probably the #1 item on my want list.

I wasn't familiar with the Nassua Dodgers having Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe on the team or I'd have been hunting down an item from that team as well. Looking around online I haven't seen any signed baseballs from the team (although I haven't explored all the different auction site databases yet...) I love the fact it has signatures from every person in the picture.

Just got in this 8x10 NASA photo.
It has been sold to a Net54 member.
The image has been optimized to up load it here so it does look distorted but it is not.

When I had put up a post about my next price list going out, I mentioned that it would include an Armstrong signed photo. A member contacted me and the deal was made.
